Taking cover behind the abundant foliage of the plane trees and standing on four pillars, it baffles those having a keen eyesight. <\/span><b>What kind of construction is that in this verdant ravine?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Why is it raised instead of touching the ground?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are the old baths; they were built in\u00a0the early 60\u2019s, but didn\u2019t operate for long<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d said Vangelis sitting in the village coffee shop on a July Sunday morning. \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The villagers claim that\u00a0<\/span><\/i><b><i>they had taken a couple of showers over there. In summer, that is. They wouldn\u2019t use the baths in winter because it was cold<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d. With its water supply coming from \u201cKlianis\u2019 source\u201d, the building is split into small rooms, and apart from the shower stalls,\u00a0<\/span><b>it features three squat toilets, which however have been little used<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, the few villagers can\u2019t recall which institution took the initiative to erect those community baths and outhouses. \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m not sure if it was the Ministry of Health, or funds from the Marshall Plan, no such sign exists<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d mentions Vangelis before adding: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The son of the then President recalls that<\/span><\/i><b><i>\u00a0it wasn\u2019t the community which set the plan going<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We would bring twigs, like the ones you use to kindle a fire in fireplaces and ovens, open the cauldron, set the fire and waited for the water to boil.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><b><i>We were kids, but we knew our stuff<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We would get a towel and \u2013excuse my language\u2013 a pair of underpants \u2013that was all\u2013 and come over here.
